Essential Doctrine of the Prometheus Fellowship, In Question and Answer form. Note: please go over the 'About' section of the site before reading on.

Q: Who are you?
A: We are a fellowship of Eclectics. We take the name "Prometheus Fellowship"
after the mythological Greek Titan who stole the fire from Mt. Olympus and gave it to
humankind. (Prometheus was thereafter chained to a rock by Zeus to have his liver eaten
out for eternity, but that's missing the point.)

Q: What is your basic philosophy?
A: The philosophy that all of us share: To live the life that will grant the
greatest chance for immortality. To live forever or die trying.
[See 'Is Immortality Possible?']

Q: What is a 'fellowship'?
A: fellowship (fèl´o-shîp´) noun
1.a. The condition of sharing similar interests, ideals, or experiences, as by reason of
profession, religion, or nationality. b. The companionship of individuals in a congenial
atmosphere and on equal terms.
2.A close association of friends or equals sharing similar interests.

For our purposes, it is a tightly knit cadre of seekers bent on achieving similar
goals. In this case we aspire towards an abstract interpretation of the "left-hand path",
or the deification of consciousness and the pursuit of personal eternality called
apotheosis.

Q: What is Eclecticism?
A: An eclectic posits that no one system of human thought is 100% true.
b\Borrowing from Epistemological Skepticism, the eclectic holds that nothing can be known
for certain, but rather only to be probable. Hence, the eclectic employs individual elem-
ents from a variety of sources, systems, and/or styles, seeing that each one has some
validity to it, but does not capture the whole truth.

Eclecticism is best exemplified by the parable of the 8 blind men and the elephant.

Q: What is Transhumanism/Extropianism?
A:

Q: What is the mission of the Fellowship?
A: Our objectives can be divided into three categories (in order of importance):

1) To progress our consciousnesses to the highest level surmountable.
	a) To escape the death of our "shells".
	b) To forge ourselves into our ideals (archetypes).

2) To foster the creation true individuals free from preconceived and irrational view
systems, that are independent of the social values of the masses, as we believe
this will help to create a more compassionate and highly evolved society, which
in turn will ensure a better future for all humanity.

3) To actualize universal Utopia.

Q: What is your position on religion/afterlife?
A: That it is a delusion fabricated by man's desire to not simply cease,
and to have what he does not understand conviniently explained to him.

Afterlife is a possibility, although a very faint one.
It is also viable that every possibility has happened infinitely, and will
happen an infinite number of times in the future (or perhaps a concurrent
infinite manifestation of everything).

However, we see all these things as speculation without evidence
or rational backing. Religion is more easily explained sociologically
than cosmologically, and therefore we will treat it as such - a mythology.

(The anthropocentricity of it alone is disgusting enough by itself, without even
mentioning the unfortunate fact that these creationist superstitions dominate our
"modern" culture)

In the words of Governor Jesse Ventura,
"Religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people."

In the Fellowship's opinion, the predigested slop that is fed to people by organized
religion is, for the most part, hogwash. The way to truth is not through the accept-
ance of the perscribed, but rather through questioning one's preconceived notions
about reality. We attest to the Zen proverb, "Don't seek truth, just cease to
cherish your opinions."

Q: I'm still not sure what you are, your philosophy interests me but I
don't know if i want to join. What advice can you give me?
A: Drop one of us a line telling us you're interested. One of our current Fellows
will personally answer whatever questions you may have about the cadre.

We are just establishing ourselves as an organization, and we welcome anyone who
is a strong individualist to find a Fellow to sponsor them. We accept all religious
backgrounds, but are highly selective on personality. But in essence, if you find that
you like us, we will probably like you.

We consider there to be a two-year period of mutual evaluation. If, after that time, we
find that you wish to share our venture, we will welcome you as a Promethean Fellow,
with all the accolades that that entails. ;)

Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... "Imagine" - by John Lennon
